This past week, we showed you renders of both the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and the Galaxy Note 10 Pro. The biggest news to come from these images has to do with the placement of the cameras on both models.  The punch-hole front-facing selfie camera is found in the center of the display on both units, and the rear cameras are vertically mounted on the upper left corner of the phones. Last year’s Galaxy Note 9 model featured a horizontally mounted rear camera setup. This layout is “confirmed” by a Galaxy Note 10 case render found and shared by Slashleaks. The cutouts on the back of the case match the placement of the rear cameras while the render includes an image of the phone sporting the center placed punch-hole.

We expect the Galaxy Note 10 to feature a 6.3-inch curved AMOLED display with the Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform under the hood in the U.S., and the Exynos 9820 SoC found mostly elsewhere. The phone is expected to carry a triple-camera setup including a 12MP primary camera with variable aperture, a 12MP ultra-wide camera (with a 123-degree field of view) and a 16MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. There will be an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, but no 3.5mm earphone jack or Bixby button. A 3400mAh battery will keep the lights on, and Android 9 Pie will be pre-installed along with Sammy’s One UI interface. Pricing of this model is rumored to start at $1,100-$1,200 in the states.

The Galaxy Note 10 Pro will carry a larger 6.7-inch curved AMOLED display and will add a Time-of-Flight (ToF) depth sensor to the three cameras on the back. It also will be equipped with a 4500mAh battery and a 25W fast charger. The ToF sensor will appear underneath the LED flash in a second column to the right of the three camera sensors.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10 Pro are expected to be unveiled in August with the week of August 10th highlighted in a recent rumor. Interestingly, unlike last year when it was stuffed with new features, we haven’t heard much about the S Pen for the 2019 Galaxy Note 10. Last year Samsung added Bluetooth LE connectivity to the stylus allowing it to be used a shutter for the Galaxy Note 9 camera, advance slides for a presentation, and control streamed media. Earlier this year, we showed you illustrations from a patent application Samsung filed for an S Pen with a built-in camera. However, we also pointed out a number of reasons why this would not be practical.

Samsung originally planned to use virtual buttons on the Galaxy Note 10, doing away with physical power and volume controls. However, tipster Ice Universe has said that Samsung’s objectives for the phone are “Stability and maturity.” Virtual sliders wouldn’t fit in with these goals, but we shouldn’t rule out something this radical for the Galaxy Note 11

The Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10 Pro will each have a 4G and 5G variant. This would be Samsung’s second 5G model following the Galaxy S10 5G. The latter is currently available from Verizon and there is speculation that T-Mobile will soon be taking preorders for the phone. Considering that the Galaxy S10 5G also sports a 6.7-inch display, the S Pen could be the difference between the manufacturer’s two top-of-the-line 5G handsets for 2019.
