The Fitbit Versa 2 was bound to happen after the latest leaks that provided us with pictures and details about its features. It’s not surprising that Fitbit chose to announce the Versa 2 in August instead of waiting for IFA 2019 next month, as that would have buried their product under a pile of announcements from other brands.If you’re following our news feed, then you might already know that Fitbit Versa 2 features Amazon Alexa and Spotify support. In fact, this is Fitbit’s first smartwatch with Amazon Alexa built-in, so let’s hope they got it right. Naturally, Fitbit Pay is included as well, so you can use your smartwatch to pay from your wrist.

The Versa 2 has a single button on the left side, as Fitbit wants you to use the touchscreen or your voice more to control the smartwatch. And thanks to the integrated mic, you can do that via Alexa, which can be triggered by holding Versa 2’s button.

Spotify Premium subscribers will find the Versa 2 especially useful since it lets them control music and podcasts directly from their wrists. With the help of the Spotify app, users can control playback on-the-go, change playlists, like songs, and easily switch music output without skipping a beat.

Those who aren’t subscribed to Spotify will be pleased to know that the smartwatch has the ability to play 300+ songs from personal music library, download Pandora stations, and add Deezer playlists, so there are plenty of options to choose from.

Fitbit had stuffed in a lot of sleep-tracking features in this smartwatch, including Sleep Score, Smart wake, Sleep Mode, and an option that will provide users with an estimate of the variability of oxygen levels in their bloodstream.

In addition, Fitbit Versa 2 packs automatic activity tracker, PurePulse 24/ heart rate tracking, over 15 goal-based exercise modes, and connected GPS.

Bigger and better display, faster processor

More importantly, if you pair the Versa 2 with an Android phone, you’ll be able to use the microphone to reply to texts and notifications from the wrist. Furthermore, Fitbit claims the Versa 2 is powered by a faster processor compared to Versa. Also, it sports a larger AMOLED display that allows users to take advantage of the Always-On display mode, which boasts 2+ days battery life.

However, without Always-On display mode enabled, the Fitbit Versa 2 should last over five days per charge, a small improvement over the previous model that offered only four days of battery life.

The smartwatch is durable and water resistant up to 50 meters. Also, the Versa 2 Special Edition features a premium jacquard woven band in navy and pink with a copper rose aluminum case or smoke with a mist grey case, plus a contemporary color-matched classic silicone band in navy and olive, respectively. On top of that, Fitbit announced all special edition devices come with a free three-month trial of the Fitbit Premium membership.

Fitbit Versa 2 is already available for pre-order for $200 in black with a carbon case, petal with a copper rose aluminum case, and stone with a mist grey case. A Versa 2 Special Edition is available as well for $230 in navy and pink with a copper rose aluminum case and smoke with a mist grey case.

In case you’re wondering, Fitbit Versa will arrive in the US on September 15, and it will be available for purchase via retailer like Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. Even Verizon will sell it, apparently. There will be two exclusive editions, emerald and bordeaux, both with a copper rose case, which will be launched on the market this fall, only on Fitbit.com and select retailers.
